BluOS-enabled speakers, stereos and music systems from Bluesound, NAD Electronics, and DALI Loudspeakers now support voice control. With support for Amazon Alexa, you can ask Alexa to play saved playlists, select your favourite radio station, adjust volume levels, or even group BluOS-enabled devices together and play your music in perfect sync throughout the house.
Connecting Amazon’s Alexa voice service to BluOS is easy with an Alexa-enabled device and the BluOS Voice Skill which gives you streamlined control over any BluOS-enabled speaker, stereo or home theatre system with simple voice commands. As you freely listen to music throughout the home, you can ask Alexa to change or pause a song, shuffle your favorite playlist, or simply ask what’s currently playing.
Together, the BluOS skill and Echo devices respond to your voice and let you enjoy your music without always accessing the app, so quickly getting some tunes going and listening to curated playlists on Tidal and Deezer is as easy as “Alexa, ask BluVoice…”.
As a skill integration, BluOS-enabled devices can be voice controlled alongside a wide range of Alexa-enabled smart home products. Plus, the skill is powered by BluVoice which is the BluOS voice engine that controls all BluOS-enabled devices, so the BluOS voice experience will continue to get better with every skill update.
Alexa gives you easy, streamlined control over the music in your home so you can pause the music when the phone rings or ask what song is playing, all with your voice. Set up a default room and use quick and easy voice commands to control your music by starting with, “Alexa, ask BluVoice…”
Plug in your BluOS-enabled device and download the BluOS Controller app to connect the device to your Wi-Fi. Download the most current version of BluOS if prompted.
With the skill added inside the Alexa app, launch the BluOS Controller app and open the left navigation drawer, look for Music Services and select Amazon Alexa.
Download and launch the Amazon Alexa app. Follow the directions in the Alexa app to set up your Alexa-enabled device, i.e. the Echo or Echo Dot.
Add your Amazon credentials and set the default Player name (this will change the device name in BluOS as well).
n the Amazon Alexa app, search the skill library for BluOS and download the voice skill.
You can now choose your default device and set the room name by asking, “Alexa, ask BluVoice to set the default Player to the [room name]”.
The BluOS Voice Skill that controls BluOS-enabled devices from Bluesound, NAD Electronics, and DALI Loudspeakers is currently available with English language support (only) in Australia, Canada, India, UK and the USA, and requires the latest BluOS Controler app. Music Service availability, features, and functionality are subject to limitations and vary by service and the enable device you are connected to.
